Colorado Pushing For Stronger Cyclist Protection Laws
A new proposed law would give cyclists the right of way in bike lanes across Colorado.
It would better protect cyclists legally in cases of collisions. The Denver Post states drivers could then be punished with a fine or jail time.
The new bill is on the table after many fatal bike and car collisions happened last year.
Cyclists say they are tired of the constant fear of being hit by a driver only to be faulted for the collision.
Elizabeth Coldren, a Denver Psychologist told Denver Post, “I’m always on a swivel,” she said. “I don’t feel safe. I wish I did."
