Colorado Parks and Wildlife Warns of Fraudulent Website Selling Licenses
After being alerted about a current scam going on, Colorado Parks and Wildlife are warning people to be careful of fraudulent websites that are claiming to sell Colorado fishing licenses.
This includes any third-party sites that are offering deals on CPW products. These websites may use or sell personal information from the purchaser, including social security and credit card information.
Additionally, there's no guarantee that licenses bought through third-party sites will be legitimate or recognized – if they are even delivered to the purchaser at all.
Oftentimes, the fraudulent websites will significantly mark up the price of Colorado fishing licenses, sometimes as much as $100 more than the actual cost.
The easiest, best-priced and most secure way to obtain a Colorado fishing license is through CPW's online shop or directly via an authorized agent across the state. Thirteen month licenses for 2020 go on sale to the public on March 1.
