Colorado Now Has A Gold Star Family Memorial

There are 71 Gold Star Family memorial monuments across the U.S; the newest one was recently opened to the public, in Aurora.

It is an honor that nobody wants, being a Gold Star Family; having had an immediate family member perish while serving in the U.S. Military during a time of conflict.

The Colorado Freedom Memorial opened in May of 2013 in Aurora. It is the most accurate accounting of Colorado veterans killed in action.

CBS 4 Denver reports that the memorial grounds now include Colorado's only Gold Star Family Memorial Monument. According to CBS 4 Denver, more than 6,200 men and women from Colorado have died while serving our country.

This monument is a tribute to the family members left behind.
