How Much Does It Cost to Operate a Hot Air Balloon?
Being a hot air balloon pilot can take quite a bit of an investment, needing about $40,000 to just "get off the ground," so to speak. You have to be able to get the balloon around (truck) then, you have to have a place to store it when it's not flying season. All of that is worth it, to those pilots, who get to fly and entertain.

While circumstances can change for events (including inclement weather canceling an event) there are generally nine hot air balloon events/festivals from early summer into Labor Day Weekend. Colorado Springs' Labor Day Lift Off has been a huge festival for over 50 years.
While Colorado Springs' event is very big, maybe you're into something not so "large scale;" that's where AIMS' Great Aardvark Embark, can fit in, nicely.
