The spring and summer has been full of hope and promise with vaccines rolling in, COVID numbers going down, things opening up and masks getting tossed. However, as we get August rolling and head toward fall, things are starting to take a turn for the worse with the Delta Variant bringing positive COVID cases up and more mask mandates coming back. However, not everyone is on board.

According to Fox 31, the CDC's list of Colorado counties with high or substantial rates of community transmission is growing quickly and now they are recommending that indoor mask wearing should come back.

Many places including grocery and retail stores have re-implemented mandatory masks while inside, whether you have been vaccinated or not. Some school districts including Denver Public Schools and most recently here in NoCo, the Poudre School District are implementing mask mandates as well.

The CDC categorizes “high” community transmission as any location with a 7-day cumulative incidence rate of more than 100 cases per 100,000 as well as a test positivity percentage of 10%.

Even with numbers being where they are, there are many people who are frustrated, vaccinated and aren't buying into all of the hype. These parents in Denver went peacefully protesting the return of the mask mandate to their school district.

State officials haven't put any official new mask mandates in place yet, but they have been and will continue (at least until more people are vaccinated and the numbers go down) continue to recommend them for indoor gatherings.
