Pickleball has become an increasingly popular sport, especially over the past few years. It combines aspects of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, in the fact that it's played on a court and Wiffle balls are volleyed over the net with paddles. As of 2022, there are approximately 4.8 million players nationwide, with games and tournaments being held at various locations all across the globe.

Fortunately for Colorado picklers, a brand new state-of-the-art facility with a focus on "eatertainment," is in the works. According to 9News, Colorado's Camp Pickle is slated to open by the summer of 2024.

The Camp Pickle concept comes from Punch Bowl Social founder, Robert Thompson, who has proven his success in making fun businesses that incorporate drinking, food, and gaming.

In addition to pickleball courts, Colorado's Camp Pickle will feature several other multi-use spaces, and areas with picnic tables where friends can gather and socialize. The athletic center will also serve campfire-themed snacks and creative made-from-scratch cocktails. Whether guests are playing, watching from the sidelines, or just relaxing, it's sure to be a good time.

The five-acre parcel will be located in the town of Centennial.

A second Camp Pickle is also on track to open in Alabama in 2024. Eight other locations are being funded by Thompson and have an expected 2026 completion timeline. The national chain has further franchising opportunities, which is Thompson's ultimate hope, given how popular the sport has become.
