Love SNL’s ‘More Cowbell’ Sketch? You Have Something in Common With a Colorado Brewery
You'd probably be hard-pressed to find many Coloradans that aren't at least familiar with Will Ferrell's performance in the "More Cowbell" sketch on Saturday Night Live. A brewery, not out of Denver, but Longmont, basks in the sketch's glory.
Colorado Brewery Loves An SNL Sketch That's Over 25 Years Old
The "More Cowbell" sketch on Saturday Night Live (SNL) dates back to the spring of 2000. Members of the cast portray Blue Oyster Cult, and guest host Christopher Walken portrays a fictional music producer, Bruce Dickinson. Will Ferrell as the "over the top" cowbell player will live on in comedy, for decades.
Bootstrap Brewing, based out of Niwot at the time, got its start 12 years after the "More Cowbell" sketch; when they began in Niwot, Rock 'N Roll was a big part of their persona, and remains so today. If you're of fan of Rock 'N Roll and having fun, then embracing the "More Cowbell" sketch makes total sense.

It wasn't until I came across a Bootstrap Brewing coaster that said "More Cowbell" that I really found out about how that phrase is basically the brewery's motto: "More Cowbell," right after "Brewed to Rock." It does make me want to head into their taproom in Longmont to be a part of that fun.
Bootstrap Taproom Near Another Great Brewery
You have to imaging that after the kerfuffle over the cowbell, the gang, along with Bruce, went out for a couple of beers. That's what I'll be thinking when I stop in to Bootstrap's Longmont taproom, not far from 300 Suns; which, is another great Longmont brewery.
