Most of us hear the words "first responder," and we feel thankful to those with that title. They are the ones who respond to very difficult situations first. Firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics and anyone else trained to respond to an emergency.

Imagine what those moments must be like for a first responder. Being the first one on a scene of an emergency, not knowing exactly what you are pulling up to and having to keep calm to do what is needed on a whim. We should all be thankful there are so many people willing to do these jobs.

First responders have been recognized since the Civil War days, the mid-late 1800s, when emergency medical services were examing soldiers before they were assigned for duty and ambulances were provided to better take care of soldiers.

The technology in first responder vehicles is always fascinating. Meeting the humans who have decided to be first responders is always a good reminder that good people exist. This event is a great way to say thank you.
