A Unique New Twist On An Old Favorite Sandwich in Colorado

Some things just go together like peas and carrots or ketchup and mustard - or chicken and ice cream? Such is the case for one Colorado restaurant and ice cream shop.

The chicken and waffles craze goes back a while now, and Colorado-based Birdcall is upping the ante even more with a new, localized twist on the tried and true favorite.

They have officially introduced the "Salted Maple Chicken & Waffles" with crispy chicken, bacon, 2 golden waffles, maple syrup, and Salted Maple ice cream from fellow Colorado upstart Little Man Ice Cream.

If you've never had chicken and waffles before, there's just something about that sweet, maple goodness that pairs really nice with the salty chicken vibe. Adding a scoop of ice cream into the mix seems like a hot - err, cold - take, but think about it. Sweet and salty go together, so do hot and cold.

At first I wasn't sure about ice cream on a chicken sandwich, but then... what about dipping hot french fries into a milkshake? Right? Now it all makes perfect sense!

The first Birdcall was opened in Five Points back in 2017 and has rapidly expanded across not only the State of Colorado since, but into Arizona and Texas as well.

In addition to serving up hot chicken across the state, they also contribute to several causes near and dear to Coloradans, in addition to allowing organizations to host fundraisers at their restaurants with a portion of sales being donated to the cause.
