‘Batman vs. Superman’ Wants a Wonder Woman?
On top of yesterday's news that 'Batman vs. Superman' is possibly looking for a Robin, word has leaked that they may want to get that much closer to the 'Justice League' goalpost by introducing Wonder Woman into the mix, and three actresses are currently in contention for the role.
Variety is reporting that Gal Gadot, Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Yung have or will shoot a screen test for a role that is described as “tall, brunette, athletic and exotic.” The speculation is that this character would be the love interest for Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) and/or Wonder Woman. And with that roster of actresses, it seems unlikely the character is just meant to escort Bruce Wayne to nice dinners.
Olga Kurylenko is the best known of the bunch. A Bond girl, she had a busy spring this year as she appeared in both 'Oblivion' with Tom Cruise and Terrence Malick's 'To the Wonder' opposite Affleck. Gadot is best known for her work in the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, while Yung was recently Jinx in 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation.' Kurylenko and Gadot are both former models, while both Gadot and Yung have extensive fight training.
If the role does turn out to be Wonder Woman, we're not all that surprised. Warner Brothers wanted to have a 'Justice League' movie set for 2015, and when that script didn't come together they introduced Batman into the 'Man of Steel' sequel. If the game plan is to build to 'Justice League' for a possible 2016 or 2017 launch, bringing in those characters into this sequel makes that job so much easier. 'Batman vs. Superman' is due July 17, 2015.
