Arnold Schwarzenegger Is the New Host of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the new host of The Celebrity Apprentice, NBC announced today (September 14). The show is a spinoff of The Apprentice, in which Donald Trump purported to test aspiring business moguls' mettle and launched the catch phrase "You're Fired!." Its seventh season ended in February of this year, and was on hiatus until further notice while Donald Trump left to pursue the GOP nomination for the 2016 Presidential race. NBCUniversal had cooled toward Trump earlier this year in the wake of his controversial remarks about immigrants, declining to broadcast the Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant.
"I have always been a huge fan of The Celebrity Apprentice and the way it showcases the challenges and triumphs of business and teamwork," Schwarzenegger said in a statement (quotes via NBC News). "I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity. Let's get started!"
Trump voiced his support for Arnold on Twitter, prompting one commenter to ask the presidential hopeful, "How does it feel to lose your job to an immigrant?"
In apparent response to more positive feedback, Trump continued, "To all my fans, sorry I couldn’t do The Apprentice any longer—but equal time (presidential run) prohibits me from doing so. Love!" Then he added the "kisses" emoji (just kidding).
No word yet on when you can expect the Terminator Genisys star to take his seat in The Apprentice board room — but his son Patrick is coming to FOX's Scream Queens this month.
