
Coloradans Should Watch for ‘Text/Email From Their Bank’ Scam
Another phishing scam is coming after Coloradans, looking to get their banking information. While many of us are shrewd enough to be skeptical, there are many who are in danger of falling for it.
Colorado-Based Alpine Bank Alerts Customers of Scam
Alpine Bank, based out of Glenwood Springs, has been in operation since 1973, currently employing nearly 900 people and serving over 170,000 customers. One way they're serving those customers is by trying to ;protect them from being scammed.
It was a big deal when Alpine Bank came to Fort Collins, taking over the southeast corner of Prospect and College, where Lewan & Associates had been for decades.
While Alpine Bank has larger footprint on the Western Slope and in Colorado's mountain towns, that doesn't mean that they don't have customers across the entire state who are in the scope of these criminals coming after their money.
Alpine Bank Customers Targeted by Text/Email Scam
Alpine Bank released a statement on April 10, 2025 advising their customers to "remain vigilant" in regards to an ongoing threat. The threat being, that customers are getting fraudulent texts and emails that appear to be from Alpine Bank, but or not.

The texts and emails are trying to lure the customers into providing their banking login information; the bait being that "it's about a transaction that needs verification." Even further, the criminals are calling these customers pretending to be a member of the bank's fraud team.

It makes your blood boil, thinking of someone you care about getting ripped of like this, turning over private information, even sending these people money thinking it's going to a new account.

You have to assume that there have been more than a few people that have been victimized for them to issue such a wide alert.
