Allegiant Air Leaving Fort Collins By Mid-October
It sure was convenient to be able to board a commercial jet and head to Las Vegas or Phoenix right from our backyard at the Fort Collins/Loveland Municipal Airport, was being the key word. Allegiant Air has abruptly declared it’s ending service from the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport by mid-October.
Allegiant links Fort Collins-Loveland to Las Vegas, with flights inbound and outbound five days weekly and Phoenix-Mesa twice weekly, and was the airport’s only regularly scheduled commercial carrier, and the fees it paid provided a large portion of the facility’s annual budget, and also allowed it to qualify for significant federal grants.
Airport manager Jason Licon said he received a 2 a.m. email summoning him to a conference call Monday morning. Licon said Allegiant executives refused to say what prompted the move, or if it was just temporary.
