$500,000 Powerball Ticket Sold at Estes Park Liquor Store
Half of one million dollars. One lucky person is wondering what exactly to do with their winnings after scoring a big win with the Powerball.
The Colorado Lottery posted on Monday, February 22, 2021, that someone purchased a Powerball ticket at Rambo's Longhorn Liquor in Estes Park, which turned out to be a $500,000 winner.
They don't sell lottery tickets where I shop for beer; maybe I need to change my ways. Nothing would make me feel better than to know that I won $500,000 after picking up a six-pack and a quick-pick.
With Rambo's location right off of Highway 34 in Estes Park, you have to wonder if the person was local or a tourist; either way though, it's surely fun that a NoCo business sold the ticket.
The Colorado Lottery informed me that the winner had purchased the 'Power Play' option for $1 on that ticket, which turned out to be a 10X multiplier (rare.) That turned their winnings from $50,000 to the huge $500,000.
The February 20, 2021, Powerball drawing was worth $81 million. There was no jackpot winner, so the next drawing on February 24, 2021, will be worth $90 million.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: This is why I play; because damnit, people win and I could be next. I like to play twice a week, buying one quick-pick ticket each for the MegaMillions and the Colorado Lotto (bonus on the MegaMillions but not on the Lotto).
