Yup. I don't understand it either, but the youths of 2019 have a renewed interest in records, and Northern Colorado is taking note. Vinyl stores have been popping up all over the Front Range recently, and we have the guide for the grooviest record stores you need to know about.
This family-owned record store opened in Old Town about a year ago, and has been thriving ever since. With a music selection ranging from classic rock hits to modern day rap and more, there is something for everybody in this store. On top of this variety, patrons can seek musical advice from the owner himself, Mike Fogerty. A veteran to the record industry, Fogerty is always eager to share his music recommendations and technology, going so far as to provide listening booths so that customers can hear the records for themselves before purchasing.
Located on South College Avenue in Fort Collins, Bizarre Bazaar has been a longtime NoCo presence. The store boasts a collection of over 15,000 records, each of which has been visually inspected by a staff member to ensure that you get the best quality vinyl. Their staff members are friendly and knowledgable, offering everything from album recommendations to record machine repair. If this sounds like your thing, Bizarre Bazaar is open every from from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
As the name implies, this store is primarily a brewery. But aside from their 18 rotating craft beers and a selection of Mexican-American food, Intersect Brewing offers hundreds of new and used vinyl for their customers to peruse. That's right, this store allows you to check out the vintage music medium while drinking craft beer – could this be any more Fort Collins? I don't think so. Intersect is located off of Drake Road near the Safeway if you'd like to check it out.
Fort Collins isn't the only city with the record stores. Downtown Sound is located in Loveland and is a local favorite. Self-described as a "mom & pop & daughter" record shop, this business knows how to cater to the Colorado community. They have thousands of vinyl in stock, and a large guitar collection, just in case you get so inspired by the music you have to play it yourself. If you're in the area, this store is definitely worth a visit.
Absolute Vinyl makes it their mission to cater to both longtime record enthusiasts and vinyl newbies. Located in Longmont, this store is perfect for anyone looking to get into (or get back into) the vinyl scene in the Boulder County area. With a collection of around 12,000 records in over 12 different music genres, the store has everything you need. If you are just getting started and need to buy a turntable, they can help you find the perfect one, along with some giant speakers so you can blast your newfound love for vinyl to the world.
