A 28-year-old man was found dead inside a bathroom at the Woody Creek Station convenience store late Wednesday afternoon.

The man, identified as Armando Zamudio was traveling with his father and two cousins from Rifle and made a pit stop at the Aspen Village convenience store. Zamudio entered the bathroom alone and was reportedly in there for 15 to 20 minutes before his family members began to worry.

The authorities were contacted and notified of the situation, then with the permission of the store's manager, broke down the door to find Zamudio unconscious. The sheriff's deputy attempted to resuscitate Zamudio but his efforts were unsuccessful and the man has since been pronounced dead.

The deputy reported that there was no drug paraphernalia at the scene, no signs of suicide or foul play, and no apparent injuries on Zamudio's body. In addition, Zamudio's family members made a note that as far as they knew, he did not have any underlying health conditions that may have contributed to his death.

Zamudio's body was taken to Denver where an autopsy was performed and coroners should have a toxicology report within the next three to four weeks.

The assistant coroner in the case, Eric Hansen noted that on initial examination, no signs of drug use were apparent and that, "It's just a real tragedy."

It's incredibly sad to hear of someone so young passing away so suddenly under unknown circumstances, especially when a story like this hits so close to home. My heart goes out to the man's loved ones and friends in this difficult time.
