It's the most wonderful time of the year...the time where we're celebrating one Fort Collins brewery every day in December! Welcome to the 25 Beers of Christmas.

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave me something totally different than I expected: no, not a stout, but a crisp, refreshing Fort Collins classic. Today we celebrate Fort Collins fave, Funkwerks' Raspberry Provincial.

The Raspberry Provincial is a sour ale brewed with raspberries that comes to 4.2% ABV. The beer is a product of a little bit of luck...here's why, straight from the brewery:

In the summer of 2013 we took a test batch of our sessionable sour summer ale, Provincial, that didn’t quite hit gravity and decided to have some fun with it by adding a heavy dose of raspberries. The end result was so delicious, we ended up brewing it year-round. This delightfully tart fruit beer is refreshing, with a citrusy berry aroma which transitions to a subtly sweet and tart finish.

Delicious!

Not only that, but Funkwerks has a holiday surprise up their sleeves. If you prefer a dark beer for this time of year, look no further than their newly-tapped Peppermint Stout. The brew is made from steeping fresh peppermint leaves and "1 liter of liquid cacao per barrel'. Yum. Get ready for a creamy mouthfeel and a dry finish for the perfect winter drink.
