2013 Billboard Music Awards – Best Dressed
The Billboard Music Awards swarmed Las Vegas on Sunday night (May 19), and due to the not-exactly-formal nature of the event, the red carpet ensembles were a mix of couture gowns and more casual, low-key frocks.
Here's our recap of the evening's best -- and there were quite a few. It was refreshing to see so many dresses we'd sever a limb to own.
Taylor Swift
The singer showed off those enviable stems in a sparkly, sapphire blue Zuhair Murad with long sleeves. The bold, bright color was refreshing, and not something she opts for often. Swift has a model's height, so a super short dress such as this only serves to highlight her towering frame.
Overall, it was another red carpet wow for T. Swizzle, who has not had a "miss" or a "dud" at a formal event yet in 2013. The streak remains alive with this knockout number.
Jennifer Lopez
La Lopez was a gilded goddess in a low front-dipping Zuhair Murad gown with a halter neckline and a leaf-like construction; consequently, Murad was the designer of the night, with several of the best dressed ladies on the list donning the house. J. Lo is famous for those curves, and this gown existed to show them off.
Lopez showed off a little sideboobage, too. It was an accident waiting to happen, but it was faboosh nonetheless ...
Nicki Minaj
Minaj was red hot and extra busty in a scarlet gown. The dress was simple in its construction, but paired nicely with Minaj's wild corkscrews, and the thick straps provided support for the twins. It reminded us of Rihanna's 2013 Alaia Grammy dress.
Selena Gomez
The gorgeous 20-year-old showed a little bit unintentional sideboob, due to the slit that snaked its way down the bodice of her white Atelier Versace column gown that enjoyed a boost of color from the neon accents. Like her gal pal T. Swizzle, Gomez is proving to be a red carpet sure bet as she waltzes her way through step-and-repeats all year long.
Kesha
Pop music's dirty girl dared to bare in this Givenchy LBD, showing off what we've christened "sidecheek." At first, we were torn about whether this was best or worst, but the flirty length and the audacity of the design house to put a slit up to the waist elevated this dress to the status of edgy, uncompromising fashion.
Sidecheek is the new sideboob.
Emmy Rossum
The actress, who also sings, was a winner in a black Zuhair Murad -- him again, going three-for-three. The polka dots on the sheer panels were a darling and unexpected touch, while the keyhole to the cleavage was a lovely way to show skin. Even though the color was "heavy" for mid-to-late spring, it was anything but basic black.
