This is a question we've been hearing a lot today. With skies blazing orange in an apocalyptic scene for Fort Collins this weekend, many don't mind the September slush and snow so long as it means our beautiful state will stop burning.

However, what impact, if any, will this snowstorm have on the Cameron Peak Fire, which has now officially become the largest wildfire in Larimer County's history?

According to 9News Meteorologists Becky Ditchfield and Cory Reppenhagen, one "single event" is not going to totally put out the fire. The ground is very hot, so the most likely situation is that the fire will melt the snow that falls on top of it and continue to burn when temperatures rise later this week.

Paul Bruggink, the public information officer for the Cameron Peak Fire, says that "it will take a succession of storms to ultimately put out the growing blaze," (9News.)

With temperatures in the 80s this weekend, all we can do is hope for more moisture here in Northern Colorado, and an eventual end to the blazes.
