Avalanches

Workers were clearing a Colorado highway when they realized they heard something from above. It was a wall of snow roaring down a nearby mountain so they grabbed their cameras.

We are in the heart of Avalanche country and not just because of the hockey team. Check out some crazy avalanche footage caught on camera.

More than 600 avalanches were human caused last year, so it's important that we are aware and prepared when exploring the backcountry.

The reports of avalanches in the news this winter seem to be plentiful. Just a few weeks ago I-70 was shut down after an avalanche covered the highway with up to 15 feet of snow.
