The news that Fort Collins had decided to ban smoking on outdoor restaurant patios was a win for many residents.  But now it turns out some places may get a little more time to abide by the new law.

While the new non-smoking law goes into effect for most businesses on January 17th, some restaurants and bars will not have to obey it right away, according to the Coloradoan.

Restaurants and bars with patios that are not adjacent to sidewalks and other public rights-of-way would have six months to adhere to the ban.

I suppose I can understand not being as strict with the law in situations that don't affect residents as much; but shouldn't all businesses be held to the same standard?  Let me know what you think in the comments!
