The lottery is a fickle thing... some never win and keep playing, others win and keep playing... it seems if you have the lottery bug you got it, but the jackpot just got harder to win.

It seems that winning the lottery went from a one in 175,223,510 to one in 292,201,338 chance!

Here's the real skinny that will maybe make you think twice before laying down another dollar. You have about a one in 92 chance to even win the little itty bitty teenie weenie pot of $4.

According to TIME, part of the reason for the change is the fact that more than 36 states are included in this giant lottery drawing. On top of that, the Powerball has seen a decline in sales, in fact, nearly a 20 percent decline since last year.

Your new odds go into effect this fall, October 4, 2015.
