If you're like me, then the holidays are one of the craziest times to be out and about. You're buying gifts, getting dinner with friends, and your phone, let's be real, is dying quickly.

However, several news outlets are warning 'public chargers' (I consider myself one of these) in extra danger of a potential scam called "juice jacking". This is where, as you charge your phone in a public port, hackers can plug into the malware, lock your device, or "send private information like passwords, addresses, or even a full backup of the phone directly to the criminal" (According to Deputy District Attorney Luke Sisak, quoted by the Denver Channel).

In order to keep yourself out of danger, authorities encourage you to bring an external battery with you, use an adapter that only allows charging, or— the easiest solution— just make sure your phone is charged before you leave the house.
