Fortunately, some snow storms recently blew through the Rocky Mountains, giving them a fresh and needed first coat of snow for the 2024-2025 season.

This is good news for places like Wolf Creek Ski Area, which opened up on October 22nd as the first in Colorado to do so.

However, something that is often talked about with the sport is just how expensive it has become to participate.

One resort in Colorado, it looks like the price tag will continue to get higher.

Paid Parking Will Be Required at Arapahoe Basin Starting in 2024

According to Out There Colorado, you will now have to pay to park at Arapahoe Basin starting in the 2024-2025.

The good news is that this is only limited to the weekends and holidays.

However, for many people who actually live in Colorado and are avid skiers, the only time they usually get to go to places like A-Basin is during these times.

At the moment, the fee isn’t exorbitantly high at $20, but it’s yet another fee you have to pay to enjoy time out on the mountain.

That along with the prices for life tickets or multi-mountain passes only starts to add to the already expensive sport.

People Are Not Happy About Paying For Parking

According to Outside, the news shocked people who are fans of A-Basin.

In particular, Coloradans always viewed the ski area as a place that sort of lives outside of the corporate ski resort world.

However, this all comes as it was announced that the Alterra Mountain Company, who started the Ikon Pass and owns big name resorts like Steamboat and Winter Park, are now the new owners of the resort.

Along with the fee comes a new reservation system people have to use. While some people understand the new system for reserving spots given the mountain has a hard time with parking, the fee is clearly a step too far for many skiers and snowboarders.

At this moment in time, there is not a date for when A-Basin will open for the 2024-2025 season.
