Shopping habits are once again changing in the state of Colorado. Some shoppers may be excited about this program, but others may be skeptical. I understand the skepticism because it may be a way for Coloradans to collect more debt. However, this new payment option at Costco could be a game-changer for many.

Colorado Shopping Habits Are Shifting Again

Costco has announced that the retailer will accept Affirm payments from customers. Affirm famously has the Buy Now, Save Later program. Colorado Walmart locations started accepting Klarna payments in April. Klarna is very similar to Affirm.

Buy Now, Pay Later Expands in Colorado

It goes to show that Buy Now, Save Later is starting to become the norm outside of online shopping.

I have used Affirm to buy concert tickets before. I bought the tickets and I paid four equal payments in just a few months. I did not have to pay any interest.

More Options and Flexibility for Colorado Costco Shoppers

CNET says that Costco shoppers will have even more flexibility when it comes to online purchases. Yes, you can make payments in four installments, but Costco shoppers will also have the option to make payments for up to 36 months depending on the amount spent.

Those larger purchases will charge interest, just like a credit card. The longer you extend your payments, the more interest you will pay.

Currently, Costco only accepts Affirm payments for purchases exceeding $500. So no, you will not be able to make payments on smaller and day-to-day purchases. This payment change is for their more expensive products.
