Could We See a White Christmas in Northern Colorado?

It's been a long time since we've seen a white Christmas in Northern Colorado. The last time Fort Collins saw a fresh coat of snow on Christmas Day was 2012.

The Rarity of Christmas Snow in Colorado

While we all hope for snow on Christmas, it is unlikely. However, when we do get snow on this special holiday, it seems like a miracle. There is nothing quite like seeing snow on Christmas, even if you have to drive into the Rocky Mountains.

Recently, I have been keeping an eye on the forecast for Northern Colorado. Now, I do not want to get anyone's hopes up, but some of these forecasting models are showing some signs of now.

Christmas is still two weeks away, and a lot can change with weather forecasts in that timeframe. Forecasts are also predictions and not rock solid. The Global Forecast system through December 25, 2025, is showing the possibility for snow on Christmas Eve.

Imagine waking up Christmas morning and seeing a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. That would be something, wouldn't it?

What the Latest GFS Model Shows

Currently, the Global Forecast System run published by the College of Dupage at Noon on December 11, 2025, shows a possibility for approximately eight inches of snow.

This forecast shows snow starting in the beginning hours of Christmas Eve and accumulating throughout the day. Just a disclaimer here, Global Forecast Models usually date out pretty far. While this is not an official forecast, those of us who would love to see fresh snow on either Christmas Eve or Christmas are hopeful.
