After three straight years of finishing second place at the state tournament, Thompson Valley High School of Loveland broke through in 2019.

The Golden Eagles won the Division 4A co-ed championship earlier this month.

The state title capped off a remarkable season for the cheer squad, which were the champions of these tournaments throughout the season: Spirit Fest, Top of the Hill,  Rock the Mat, UCA Division, Northern Conference and Flip and Shout.

Thompson Valley essentially had an undefeated season in competitions.

A key team leader of the squad was Summer Ballinger — who is this week's Townsquare Media High School MVP.

Here's a Q&A with the star cheerleader who was hand-picked for the award by coach Shari Robinson:

What was the Thompson Valley Cheer squad like this year?

What's your pre-competition routine?

What's your post-high school plans?

After high school I plan to build a career in real estate and go to college. Still deciding where.

What's your favorite Food?

Anything pasta and seafood.

What's your favorite TV Show?

What's your favorite Music?

Literally all genres. I love music.
