Help Fight Hunger with the Food Bank of Larimer County’s Taste Event
Help fight hunger by stuffing your face at The Taste Benefit, hosted by the Food Bank for Larimer County.
Here's the best part: stuffing your face at this event won't just combat your hunger, but also the hunger of those in need in Larimer County. All proceeds from the event go towards the food bank.
The food bank opened in 1984 and has been serving the dietary needs of Northern Coloradans ever since.
While our beautiful mountains and hoppin' communities make it hard to believe that Larimer County is struggling with hunger, this is not the case.
"Around 40,000 individuals in Larimer County are considered food insecure," said Paul Donnelly, Communications Director for the food bank. "Those are seniors, those are children, those are families."
Donnelly also pointed out that the food bank sees people with a wide variety of lifestyles, from doctors to homeless people. It's a far cry from the stereotypical idea of who would be struggling.
One look at the line outside of the food bank during the day shows just how many people in Larimer County are suffering from food insecurity. According to Donnelly, "...[the line] is a visual representation of the need in Larimer County."
That's why events like The Taste Benefit are so important. This year's shindig takes place next Thursday (September 12) at the Marriott Fort Collins on Horsetooth Road.
There will be music, a silent auction, and a selection of food and drink from the best restaurants in Fort Collins. General admission and VIP tickets are still available on the food bank's website, foodbanklarimer.org.
