Get Discounted Beer for a Good Cause at Backyard Tap on May 29

Since its inception, the Grace Upon Grace Project has strived to provide underserved families with diapers, wipes and period products in order to help them live and grow with grace and dignity.

Now, the Northern Colorado non-profit is teaming up with the Backyard Tap to raise awareness about period poverty — an issue that affected one in four people in the last year alone.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday (May 29), attendees can bring unopened packages of period products to the Backyard Tap to receive $1 off their first alcoholic beverage. On top of helping the community, guests will get to enjoy live music, food trucks, local beer and raffles.

The Grace Upon Grace Project will also be on-site creating Period Kits — consisting of 12 tampons, six pads and six liners — to give to those experiencing homelessness or chronic period poverty.

"It's really just to come together to raise awareness around period poverty, and then really help stock our shelves so we can get products back out to the community," said Emily Jorgensen, founder of the Grace Upon Grace Project, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "This is about more than just period products — this is about health, dignity and access to basic necessities."

The organization hopes to build 1,000 kits by the end of the day. To get a head start, the Backyard Tap is accepting donations now. Guests can also help build kits if they wish.

"We would just really appreciate your support in raising that awareness," said Jorgensen. "It'll be a super fun event."
