The Colorado State University Public Safety Team announced in an email on Sunday (March 22) that a university employee has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The employee is a woman in her 30s who works for the CSU Health Network.

She was administered a test for the virus on Tuesday, March 17 after she began showing symptoms during the workday.

According to The Rocky Mountain Collegian, the woman was wearing a mask on that Tuesday and only saw a minimal number of patients. She had not worked for three days prior to Tuesday.

Officials have notified anyone who was in contact with the employee, and are advising them to monitor their symptoms and self-quarantine if need be.

Lori Lynn, associate executive director of the CSU Health Network, stated there is no indication the employee contracted COVID-19 from the health center.

As a result, Lynn noted that a closure of the center is not warranted.

The Rocky Mountain Collegian reports that the employee's department stopped seeing patients routinely on March 18, although this decision was unrelated to her case.

For now, the center will only see students remotely or in-person if there is an emergency.

In the meantime, a medical cleaning crew is sanitizing the center with CDC-approved cleaners multiple times a day in order to combat the virus.
