Today, Highway 36 was completely closed just southeast of Estes Park between noon and 3pm.  Though it's back open now, the closures and delays are far from over.

9 News reports CDOT is planning 18 additional closures along Highway 36, as part of the Emergency Flood Reconstruction project between Lyons and Estes Park.

CDOT is strongly recommending the use of US 34 between Loveland and Estes Park, and S.H. 7 between Estes Park and Lyons as alternate routes for those who can use them.

Due to this and other projects on U.S. 36 CDOT says to expect major delays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

Frustrating?  Yes.  A necessary part of bouncing back from such a tragic natural disaster?  You bet.

So please be patient, be safe while driving, and thank those road workers when you see 'em!
