Well, today was certainly a tearjerker.

Chris Farrell, who teaches at Jackson Elementary School, was nominated for September's Teacher Tuesday competition and won by a landslide of 7,000 votes thanks to his adorable submission from student Ava and her mother, Cherelle. Here's what she said about the educator:

Mr. Farrell is an amazing teacher, he cares about his kids and their learning in school. He pushes them to be the best they can be. He taught my oldest a couple years ago and pushed her to be creative with her writing and helped her so much with her other school work if she did not understand. Now he is my youngest child's teacher for 4th and now 5th grade, she loves having him as a teacher. She has stated that out of all her teachers, he is by most her Favorite and she wishes she could have him for more of her school life.

Jackson Elementary's staff gathered together in the gym to surprise Mr. Farrell, who walked into the gym crying tears of joy. The gym full of kids cried out 'hip hip hooray' as the University of Northern Colorado announced the $500 donation to Mr. Farrell's school and Scruggs from 99.9 The Point presented him with a gift card to Rodizio Grill.
