Concert-Goer Fatally Falls From Escalator At Empower Field At Mile High
A concert-goer tragically lost her life over the weekend after fatally falling from an escalator at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, CO.
According to multiple reports, including those from both Denver Police and Empower Field, a woman - whose identity had not been disclosed as of Monday morning (Aug. 1) - tragically lost her life on Saturday night (July 30) when she fell from an escalator at the stadium following a Kenny Chesney concert.
As per official reports, the woman was sitting on a railing of the escalator when she fell to the concourse below and died as a result of her injuries, Denver Police said.
The incident reportedly happened at about 10:52 p.m., police spokesman Nate Magee told the Denver Post.
Denver Police initially addressed the death publicly a little after 11 p.m. on Saturday night (July 30); On Sunday (July 31), officials said the unidentified woman's death is being investigated as an accident.
Magee told the Denver Post on Sunday that he did not know whether alcohol was a factor in the fall but said he believes the woman was not pushed or jostled before she fell.
“To my understanding, there was none of that, it was just an accidental fall, I don’t think anyone pushed her or anything like that."
On Sunday (July 31), Kenny Chesney released a statement in regards to the tragic event, saying “I was devastated to learn of the loss of someone after our show. There had been so much joy, so much heart coming from the people of Denver last night — and to hear this is heartbreaking.
Life is precious. Sharing music brings us together and that love we share makes us so much more. For the lady who came to share that love, there are no words. For her friends and family’s loss, I grieve with them and for them.”
