On Saturday, March 27, CBS' true crime drama "48 Hours" will cover the case of Jonelle Matthews, a young girl who was kidnapped from Greeley in 1984.

The episode will premiere at 9 p.m. MT on Saturday, March 27.

If you've never seen the show before, "48 Hours" is a true crime documentary series that is described on CBS' website as one that:

[...] has helped exonerate wrongly convicted people, driven the reopening -- and resolution -- of cold cases, and changed numerous lives. CBS News correspondents offer an in-depth look into each story, with the emphasis on solving the mystery at its heart.

This week, they're covering a story that hits close to home. Jonelle Matthews was a 12-year-old girl who was taken from her home in Greeley sometime after 8:30 p.m. in 1984 after her friends dropped her off from a school function, according to a clipping from The Greeley Tribune.

Her remains were discovered in 2019 in Weld County after crews constructing a pipeline happened upon them. The main suspect in the case is Steven Dana Pankey, a man who once ran for governor of Idaho and is said to "love the spotlight", so much so that his attorney claims he may be incriminating himself on purpose, according to The Greeley Tribune.
