Realities for Children has received an overwhelming response in foster children and abused youth in need of bicycles in Larimer County this holiday season. Realities’ is seeking the community’s help in donating 500 bicycles to provide to all registered children through this year’s 15th Annual Bikes for Tykes’ program. Realities’ is short just over 200 bicycles and is asking for bike donations no later than this Friday, December 3rd. Bikes should be in reasonable working condition and suitable for children ages 3-17.

Bicycles, tricycles and Big Wheels may be taken to are bike shops, including: Lee’s Cyclery, The Phoenix Cyclery, Trek Bicycle Store and Breakaway Cycles where they will be safety-checked and refurbished to ensure safe riding for each child.

Each of the children recipients are enrolled with one of Realities for Children’s affiliate youth agencies that directly serve the needs of abused and neglected children locally. Participating agencies include: Adoption Dreams Come True, Alternatives to Violence, CASA of Larimer County, Center for Family Outreach, Hearts & Horses Riding Center, Child Advocacy Center, ChildSafe, Harmony House, Foster & Adoptive Families of Larimer County, Jacob Center, Larimer County Department of Human Services, Larimer County Foster Children, The Matthews House, Namaqua Center, Partners Mentoring Youth, Reflections for Youth and Turning Point.
