Beekeeping is a fun hobby that almost anyone can take up, but there are definitely some ropes you'll need to learn to become successful.

The Colorado State Beekeeping Association is hosting a series of introductory workshops on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. throughout 2017 at the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster. Taught by Butterfly Pavilion Entomologist Mario Padilla, workshops will cover beekeeping history and basics, challenges, swarming, honey extraction, preparing for seasonal changes, and more.

The class dates are as follow:

Workshop 1, Beekeeping Basics - January 28 
Workshop 2, Package Installation and early season management - April 15
Workshop 3, Mid-season management and Maladies - June 3
Workshop 4, Honey Extraction - July 29
Workshop 5, Preparing for winter - October 7

Individual sessions cost $35 for non-members; the entire program costs $150 for non-members. (Members receive a discount on program and individual workshops.) To register for the program, go here.
