It's still one of the most talked about restaurants in Colorado: Casa Bonita.

While thousands are still waiting for that coveted email invite to see the "new" Casa Bonita, a movie about the renovation is on the way.

Casa Bonita ranks among the Rocky Mountains, the Denver Broncos, and Red Rocks, when it comes to things that are loved about the state. The restaurant celebrated its 50th year in March of 2024, and in the summer of 2024 a film about its "rebirth' will make its premiere.

It was in the summer of 2021, that Matt Stone and Trey Parker first made the deal to buy the legendary restaurant that they lovingly included in one of their episodes of "South Park."

Two years later, in the summer of 2023, the guys announced the re-opening of Casa Bonita, after dropping a whopping $40 million into renovations (after already spending $3 million to purchase the restaurant.)

Now that the restaurant has officially re-opened, many have been in to experience the "new" Casa Bonita, but there are still thousands and thousands of people (in and out of Colorado) waiting to get that email that has the invitation to dine there, which is the only way to enter the doors.

New Documentary About Casa Bonita's Renovation Coming

With all the people still waiting to get inside, this new documentary coming out in the summer of 2024, may get those people a glimpse inside, sooner than an email invite arrives.

When Can Coloradans Expect to See the New Casa Bonita Movie?

Premiering June 7, 2024, at the Tribeca Film Festival, is a documentary about Matt Stone and Trey Parker renovating the restaurant: "Saving Casa Bonita."

In a perfect world, Stone and Parker would arrange a screening at Red Rocks like they did for their 25th anniversary of "South Park;" wouldn't that be great?

Though there are little details, still, about the film, it's safe to assume that it will have  "before" and "after" footage of where all that $40 million was used for.

Sure, it's clear, to those who haven't been inside, that the outside was spruced up with new paint and such, but getting inside to see the renovations will be fun.

I can envision scenes of frustration, like any "house renovating" show that we've all seen on TV.
