Rockies Shut Down Reds 6-3
The Colorado Rockies (17-27) shut down one of the hottest teams in baseball last night, beating the Cincinnati Reds (25-20) 6-3 in Cincinnati. Rockies starter Christian Friedrich gave up three runs in five innings, and struck out six. Todd Helton drove in thee runs. ‘100 Days of Heat’ DUI Crackdown Starts This Weekend
Northern Colorado law enforcement agencies begin the ’100 Days of Heat’ DUI enforcement campaign this weekend, traditionally one of deadliest weekends on Colorado highways. The campaign will last through the summer, ending Labor Day weekend. In 2011, 67 Coloradoans were killed in alcohol-related crashes during the summer months.
Rockies Open Weekend Series Tonight in Cincinnati
The Colorado Rockies (16-27) will try to make it two wins in a row for just the fourth time this season when they open the weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds (25-19) at Great American Ball Park tonight at 5:10 MT (TV: Root Sports). High Wind Watch
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for Northern Colorado in effect from tomorrow afternoon through tomorrow evening. The strongest winds can be expected east of I-25, where gusts could reach 60 mph. Winds will be increasing by mid-morning, and will reach warning levels in the afternoon.

The Colorado Rockies (16-27) won for only the fifth time this month, taking the final game of the three-game series last night against the Miami Marlins (24-20) 8-4. This time it was Miami that blew the early lead, something Colorado has been doing frequently. The Rockies are off today, before starting a three-game series at Cincinnati tomorrow.
