According to the shelter's marketing director, Sarah Morrill, the Humane Society of Weld County has had an increase of strays after a tornado hit Weld County on June 7, and people returning animals after adopting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morrill said that intake is up 45 percent from last June, and the Humane Society of Weld County needs to free up some space so they can provide shelter for more animals in need. To do so, the shelter is having an adoption special through Sunday, June 20.

This weekend, all dogs one year and older will have an adoption fee of $120, kittens under one year old will be $80, and cats over one year will be just $40.

Humane Society of Weld County is open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., however adoptions stop one hour prior to closing every day.

Looking for a cat? Humane Society of Weld County has dozens, like Moon Unit. Looking for a dog? There are quite a few of those, too. There's Pixel, who was surrendered by a family because he just needs a little training and may be great for a home without kids, but he loves to play with other dogs. There's also Sesame and Stromboli, who are older dogs that need loving homes.

Personally, I'm a fan of Reece, so someone please go get him before I do, thanks.
